Head Boy

It is with a deep sense of pride, gratitude, and responsibility that I step into the role of Head Boy of one of the most esteemed institutions in Ladakh. Being entrusted with this honour fills me with mixed emotions—joy at the opportunity, humility in the face of the responsibility, and excitement for the journey ahead. I am reminded of a quote that continues to inspire me: “You have to have towering courage to lose sight of the shores to discover the depth of the ocean.” Life constantly offers us opportunities; it is up to us to recognize and embrace them. I truly believe that when we remain open, wise, and courageous, we become the chosen ones who shape our own destinies. Every moment we use wisely today paves the path for a brighter tomorrow.

As Head Boy, my commitment is to lead with integrity, dedication, and a constant awareness of the example I set for others. The words and support of my fellow Dragonites have brought me to this position, and for that, I am sincerely grateful. Along with my team, I uphold the motto “duty first” as we strive to contribute meaningfully to the success and spirit of our school. I extend heartfelt thanks to our Principal Ma’am, Vice Principal Sir, our dedicated teachers, and every member of this community who placed their trust in me. Together, let us make this academic year a time of growth, unity, and achievement for all.

Head Girl

It is both an immense honour and a moment of great pride for me to serve as the Head Girl of our prestigious school. This role is not merely a title—it is a responsibility that I embrace with humility, gratitude, and a strong sense of purpose. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our Chairman, Principal, and dedicated teachers for placing their trust in me and giving me this opportunity to lead and represent the student body.
As Head Girl, I am deeply aware that leadership is not about authority, but about service, example, and empathy. I see this role as a chance to support and uplift others—to be a guide, a voice, and a helping hand. I aim to lead by example, uphold the values and standards of our school, and ensure that every student feels heard, respected, and inspired. I believe in the power of unity and in creating an environment where everyone feels motivated to reach their full potential.

My commitment is to remain approachable, fair, and dedicated in all my actions. I will listen with compassion, act with integrity, and work to foster a culture of positivity, inclusiveness, and respect. True leadership lies in lifting others, in making space for all voices, and in never losing sight of the greater good. Together, let us make this year memorable, meaningful, and filled with moments of learning, growth, and shared success.

Student Spotlight

Sonam Wangail

Batch of 2016

It fills me with a deep sense of gratitude and joy to share that I have cleared the UPSC Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination, and passed the SSB interview with an All India Rank of 35.

This is not just a personal achievement — it’s a reflection of the love, support, and guidance I’ve been blessed with throughout my journey.

I come from Druk Padma Karpo School, fifth batch (2016) — a school that didn’t just teach me lessons from textbooks, but taught me how to live with values, courage, and a sense of purpose. I want to thank His Eminence Thuksey Rinpoche from the bottom of my heart — his blessings, vision, and deep compassion continue to inspire us all to become better human beings. I’m also incredibly thankful to all my teachers, who believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself, and to my parents, whose silent sacrifices and constant encouragement have been my backbone.

Ever since my schooling days, I’ve dreamed of wearing the olive greens of the Indian Army. Following in the footsteps of my father to become a fourth-generation soldier and first-officer from our family.
The image — of service, strength, and honor — stayed with me through all the ups and downs. Today, getting one step closer to that dream feels surreal and humbling.

Looking back, what really helped me — especially during the intense 5-day SSB process — wasn’t just studying hard. It was saying “yes” to everything. I took part in sports, debates, quizzes, dances, and read every book I could get my hands on. All those things helped shape my personality, my confidence, and how I carry myself — they gave me the tools to express who I really am.

If there’s one thing I’d say to younger students, it’s this: don’t be afraid to dream wildly, and don’t worry about looking foolish while chasing those dreams.
Be a little foolhardy, be a little atrocious in your imagination — because great things are rarely achieved by playing it safe.

This moment is not just mine — it belongs to every person who stood by me, guided me, and lifted me up. I still have a long way to go, and a lot more to learn, but I’ll carry this gratitude with me wherever I go.

Taekwondo has been a significant part of my life for over a year now. Starting as a white belt, I was initially overwhelmed by the amount of information given by the instructor. For example, what seemed like simple Three-step sparring turned out to involve proper stances, blocks, and many other details I hadn’t considered. My journey took a thrilling turn when I was selected for the district competition held in Kargil on 16th March 2023. The experience was amazing, and I felt incredibly proud of myself. Subsequently, I was also chosen for the National Championship in Rajasthan on 20th April. Although I missed out on the Asian Championship due to exams, Taekwondo has taught me valuable lessons in kicks, punches, self-restraint, and persistence.

Tsering Paljor

9th-A

My name is Tsering Paljor, studying in 10th grade, and my passion is football. I recently had the opportunity to travel to Assam for football tournaments, which I’m incredibly grateful for. I believe in always being thankful for what you have and following your passion.

Padma Tashi

10th-A

Dancing has always been my passion, starting from school co-curricular activities to joining a dance academy to learn more about it. With the guidance of an amazing mentor, I improved and had the opportunity to choreograph a music video for a rising singer in Ladakh. Being chosen as one of the dancers for the video was a thrilling experience, teaching me the effort it takes to produce a 3-4 minute music video. The premiere in September was a moment of pride as my friends, classmates, and teachers appreciated my work. This journey has given me a new perspective, and I’m determined to continue exploring different dance styles and showcasing my talent.
