Nestled proudly near the Indus River, just 17 kilometers from Leh, DPKS is a beacon of educational excellence. Our purpose-designed campus accommodates over 850 students and provides residential facilities for more than 300. We offer top-notch education to both girls and boys, aged 4 to 16, drawing students from a wide catchment area in the Leh Valley region.
Many of Druk Padma Karpo School’s students are first-generation learners who have the opportunity to study through matriculation exams at age sixteen, with plans to expand our offerings up to Class 12, at age 18. Our school’s unique design and cutting-edge approach to education aim to nurture the unique capabilities of each child and prepare them for success in a modern world.
Students are encouraged to excel academically and engage in extracurricular activities such as archery, yoga, kung fu, badminton, chess, and meditation. They also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Ladakhi culture and traditions during “culture days,” where they learn about and practice Ladakhi cooking, art, textiles, history, and dance.
Our school has always been ahead of its time and gained recognition in the 2009 movie “3 Idiots.” It has been featured as a place where innovation and quality education thrive, empowering students to bring positive change to their communities.

    Founder’s Day
    The commencement determines the finality and the 22nd Founder’s Day reflects the mindful proclamation of the start of the Odyssey of our beloved school, Druk Padma Karpo under the great blessings of our founding fathers. This year celebration has been organised with much gusto under the much-needed guidance of His Eminence Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche.
    It has been envisaged by Him to marshal the event with complete consideration given to our rich traditional culture. All performances have been prepared and showcased in conjunction with our culture and tradition which is parallel to our school’s vision.
    Live To Rescue
    A day at Live to Rescue Centre, Nang- as a part of school-community service, the teaching and non-teaching staffs of Druk Padma Karpo school has arranges one day voluntary service to LIVE TO RESCUE situated at Nang village. The day included cleanliness drive in and around the campus, providing help with the first aid to the animals and helping with the transportation and stacking of alfa-alfa for animals.
    The school always believes and taught its student to “be kind to every kind” and this day was marked by great satisfaction and happiness.
    Inspire To Aspire
    In another inspiring episode of ‘Inspire to Aspire,’ two notable individuals shared their experiences, reminding us of Alexander the Great’s words: ‘There is nothing impossible to they who will try.’ Captain Megh Raj shed light on Agniveer and the Indian Army’s recruitment process, while Major Palmo, who completed her schooling in Ladakh and later joined NCC during graduation, shared her journey into the Indian Army. Both speakers engaged in an interactive session, addressing students’ doubts and leaving a lasting impact, particularly on the NCC cadets. It was a highly productive and inspirational session.
    Student Council Election
    At Druk Padma Karpo School, we hold annual student council elections, simulating real-life politics. Interested students register as candidates, learn effective campaigning, and get elected through a democratic voting process. Investiture Day marks the start of the new council’s responsibilities. This year, on March 25th, Madam Nilza Angmo, Deputy Superintendent of Police, graced the occasion. New members were sworn in, and outgoing members received certificates and khatak scarves. Captains of the four houses also took their oaths and were honored by the chief guest.
